Flat Udon to enjoy at home

[Hoshino]

Himokawa Udon Noodles

A review from the Product Committee
  • Planner P
I like that I can easily eat Himokawa Udon, which I used to only be able to enjoy at specialized Japanese restaurants, at home. I also appreciate that it's dried noodles, so it's easy to store.
  • Editor H
The moist and smooth texture of the noodles is appealing. They're chewy but go down smoothly. Eating them like soba, dipped in bonito broth, was refreshing and delicious.
  • Designer J
I tried using them in tteokbokki sauce instead of wide glass noodles, and it gave it a unique feel. Since they only need to be boiled for about 10 minutes, the cooking time is short, so I use them often for busy dinners after work.

Excellent chewy taste

Unique flat udon

  1. Udon, a representative noodle dish of Japan, comes in various forms depending on regional characteristics. Hoshino's Himokawa Udon, which we are introducing this time, is a flat udon famous as a specialty of Gunma Prefecture. With thin and wide noodles that capture the flavor of Gunma wheat, it boasts a chewy and elastic texture, much like chewing sujebi or dumpling wrappers. If you prepare tsuyu or broth and dip the udon noodles in it, it will make for a perfect special meal.

The chewy and smooth texture of the noodles is very appealing. It's firm yet goes down smoothly. Dipping it in katsuobushi broth like soba was cool and delicious.
