Our founder, Sophie Kim, began her career at global banking and consulting companies. The long hours left little time to shop, but one wish stayed with her: to come home to food that was truly good to eat. She couldn't find anyone selling it the way she wanted, so in 2015 she set out to do it herself.
Her question was simple: if she sold truly good food, would even one customer recognize it and buy it? Back then, Kurly carried only seven or eight products, too few to hit the free-shipping minimum even if you bought them all. Yet on opening day, about ten like-minded people placed an order. Eleven years later, Kurly is a household name in Korea.

Every product we sell is chosen, not just stocked. Before it goes on sale, it has to pass our Product Committee, where our merchandisers, brand team, and founder taste it and decide, together, whether it's genuinely good enough for the person who'll eat it. Plenty never make the cut, and we pull the ones that slip below the bar. No endless aisles, no filler.
If something isn't on Kurly, it's not because it was hard to source. It's because it wasn't good enough.

We develop and refine our own products. Our bestselling jjamppong (Korea's fiery seafood noodle soup) has been reworked again and again from customer feedback, until it tasted exactly right.
